Break armor with blunt weapons, then attack exposed flesh. Other Hellraiser Revival enemies call for different responses: stealth-kill Cultists with your knife, execute Unworthy when they flash blue, and run from Chatterer or Charlotte during chases. You receive the knife after the first Chatterer chase, giving you a way to save ammunition and breakable weapons.
What enemies are in Hellraiser: Revival?
You encounter Cultists, Runners, Bursters, the Unworthy, armored enemies and Embracers, alongside pursuing threats and bosses such as Chatterer, Charlotte, Bruno, Sister of Mercy and Marlowe. Embracers are masses of limbs and organs formed from rejected souls in the Labyrinth.
Your immediate decision is whether to sneak, break armor, prepare an execution or escape. These encounters have distinct responses:
| Enemy or encounter | What you should do |
|---|---|
| Cultists | Take knife stealth kills when you can to conserve ammunition and melee weapons. |
| Armored enemies | Break armor with blunt weapons, then aim at exposed flesh. |
| Unworthy | Damage them until they flash blue, then interact with the Genesis Configuration to execute them. |
| Zombified Cultists after the Hobby Horse door | Line them up for Assault Rifle AP Rounds if you want the Trickshot trophy. |
| Chatterer and Charlotte chases | Keep running through paths they are not blocking. |
| Sister of Mercy's stealth encounter | Throw bottles away from your route, then climb to the hole at the top of the room. |
How do you beat armored enemies?
Use a blunt weapon to break armor, then switch to your knife and strike the unarmored areas while dodging incoming attacks.
- Start with blunt strikes. Work on removing the armor before committing to knife attacks. Blunt weapons can stagger enemies and break armor, but cannot dismember them.

- Aim at exposed flesh. Once much of the armor is gone, use your knife against the uncovered chest rather than continuing to hit the remaining plates.

- Keep dodging between attacks. Removing armor does not end the fight. Stay ready to evade as you finish the enemy at close range.
If you have environmental saw blades nearby, they offer another way to strip armor. One player used those blades to remove an armored pursuer's protection after an unsuccessful blunt-weapon attempt. Keep that option in mind when your current approach is getting you nowhere.
How do you kill Cultists without wasting ammo?
Use knife stealth kills whenever you can approach Cultists undetected. Your knife does not break, while ordinary melee weapons wear out, so quiet kills preserve both ammunition and weapon durability.
The same approach works against Unworthy when you have a stealth opportunity. You do not have to turn every encounter into an open fight.
After collecting the Hobby Horse and opening its door, the rushing zombified Cultists are especially weak. For Trickshot, equip the Assault Rifle with the AP Rounds attachment, line up two enemies and fire through them. If the first pair does not work, move into the bathroom they came from and turn around to face the next group.
What do you do when Unworthy flash blue?
Interact with a blue-flashing Unworthy to execute it with the Genesis Configuration. They take more damage than Cultists, and the blue flash tells you that you have reached the execution window.
When a group is almost cleared, weaken and execute the last one or two enemies to build Suffering for the box. This is useful preparation before a boss fight; burning or shooting those final enemies to death gives up that execution opportunity.
For Portable Guillotine, use the blue window differently:
- Fully repair a bladed melee weapon.
- Shoot an Unworthy until it flashes blue.
- Strike its head with the blade to behead it.
- Repeat until you have beheaded three enemies with that same weapon without breaking it.
Save the blade's durability for the finishing blows rather than using it to do all the initial damage.
How do you escape Chatterer and Charlotte?
Run through unblocked hallways during their chases, taking the path opposite the pursuer when they appear ahead. Chatterer can appear beside you or directly in front of you, so know your 180-degree turn control before you need it, especially on a controller.
Charlotte's graveyard patrol calls for crouching and cover instead. Follow behind her through the bushes and watch for the crossed-out eye icon at the bottom right, which indicates that you are hidden. Avoid broken glass, which alerts enemies. For the route back to the church and the lantern escape, follow the Charlotte encounter walkthrough.
How do you deal with Bruno, Sister of Mercy and Marlowe?
Bruno rewards heavy damage, Sister of Mercy requires ranged attacks and dodging, and Marlowe requires you to expose his real body before spending your shotgun ammunition.
| Boss | Key response |
|---|---|
| Bruno | Use the room's throwable objects before shotgun ammunition in the first fight. In the rematch, set him on fire and shoot him up close with the shotgun. |
| Sister of Mercy | Attack at range, stop firing to dodge her thrown knives, and attack her grab approach until she drops and the Hellchains prompt appears. |
| Marlowe | Destroy the three bodies on his back, use Hellchains to open the monster's mouth, then shoot his exposed real body with the shotgun. |
Pick up Bruno's Scalpel after his first defeat and Sister of Mercy's Whip after hers so you can sell them later. With those fights cleared, continue through the Bruno, Marlowe and ending walkthrough for the final stretch.
